Good point. My guess is that it was a low number. Lower than many here want to believe.
When you press for damages, shoot for the moon. You have nothing to lose, and your opponent may screw up and actually meet your demands. It’s like listing a house.

I tend to think you are correct....it’s probably higher than a million but probably doesn’t go past the 10-million point. Had it been 100-million....a high profile person (or two) would have been chopped-up and fired for allowing things to go this wild.
Even if it were for only 20% {and I don't believe that they'd settle that low} that is still over $50 Million.
Even 5% is over $10 million.

My guess is $2.75 million plus or minus $1 million.

However, the wild card is punitive damages. If the party causing injury believes a jury error be sympathetic to the injured, the amount settled for could be higher.
