Using the D.C. Bar to control the licensing status of attorneys in Washington DC is an over-the-top example of using foxes to guard the henhouse!
Interesting, if you were convicted of the same type of crime as Clinesmith, obviously you would not receive the same punishment. Wouldn’t matter if the case were high profile or not. You and your attorney could bring up Clinesmith and the treatment he received, as precedent and that you should get the same.
They would ignore you as if Clinesmith never happened. You would be punished to the fullest extent of the law.
Right now, as he has been from Day One, walking around DC, happy hours, cocktail parties, you name it, being patted on the back for doing what he did and taking one for the team. He didn’t rat anyone out. And for all of that, he will be rewarded. I’m thinking Perkins, Coie just might have a low profile spot for him and over time everyone will forget his name.
OMFG. The DC Bar is a disgrace. An absolute deep swamp disgrace.
