Maybe the reason there are so few good politicians is that almost no one has lived a clean enough life to withstand the scrutiny a good politician must undergo.
There may not be many compromised enough to be completely owned to do the bidding of puppet masters in the way Biden and those like him are. But there are enough to fill the positions. Not many Joe Everyman types can get the job. Not many Mr. Smiths or neighbors next door.
