They’re destroying our heroes because they want to raise new ones in their places. Ones we’re supposed to feel are victims of the evil white Christian patriarchy. So in order to make them look strong and capable, all white straight males must be made to look weak and pathetic.

Modern movies suck because the writers are all out of ideas and since they have absolutely no knowledge of classical literature or history, they have nothing to draw on. Except comic books, which along with video games, which comprise the total sum of their cultural and historical knowledge.

I like Critical Drinker. Another YouTuber who uses parody to expose the vacuity of modern movies is the guy doing the Screen Rant Pitch Meetings.
He also exposes plot holes I missed.

Critical Drinker has the most insightful commentary on films and the bloated unimaginative studious out to squeeze as much $$$ out of film lovers.

The interesting truth about your point is that the original writers of those comic books DID know classical literature and history. That is why their stories sold.

However the ones who are trying to copy those same heroes have no idea where to go with them.

The Critical Drinker is hilarious and spot on. Despite his schtick his commentaries have much more depth than most movie reviews on YouTube.

I really liked his “Why Modern Movies Suck” video, but I was initially irritated to see him include a split second of Clint Eastwood’s face from “Gran Torino” in the opening seconds of the video.

Now, he didn’t mention “Gran Torino”, but...to include that snap from the movie in the opening seemed to lump it in with them. In watching it again, I won’t jump to conclusions and hope that he included that short image to reflect how he appears to think about these things.

If so...I agree with him. If not...I wish he hadn’t included it. Otherwise, I agree 1000% with him. Absolutely, and thanks for the tip.

Thirty five years ago Siskel and Ebert wondered the same thing, why there are no new story lines in movies.

Sislkel pointed out that the early movie makers were raised on great literature, and made movies of great literature.

and that today’s movie makers were raised on comic books.

I enjoyed JoJo Rabbit, a movie that came out about 2 years ago, a satire about Hitler. Also Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, a send-up of the Manson family murders.

Other than that, I have a collection of old movies on DVD. Always have some on my AMZ wish list. Didn’t realize you could watch old movies on YouTube.

Not woke related but a comment on how the general quality of hollywood movies has reached the bottom of the barrel.

Saw a youtube review of a 2016 Steven Seagal movie called Sniper: Special Ops.

Seagal is so fat he sits in a chair for the majority of his screen time and uses a body double to climb a few flights of stairs a couple of times in the movie.

I figured, the problem as these new woke critics see it wasn't that Tony Soprano was racist, or "Friends" was too white. It's that viewers weren't troubled by it. That's what they really don't like.

You could go back to Archie Bunker; everyone was "supposed" to see how undesirable he was, but he became a hero to the majority of the TV audience.
