My ancestor Matt Talbot went broke fortifying Fort Watauga for the King’s Mountain battle. His sons did the actual fighting.
Not sure what my Scot ancestors did, but I am sure they were anti-British.
Am I the only Freeper who had Tory ancestors? One of mine, a great-great-great uncle was killed in a South Carolina battle. Fortunately, his brother--my great-great-great grandfather survived. Later, my great grandfather was in the Cavalry, Texas CSA. Obviously, he survived also.
My paternal ancestors did tend to pick the losing side.;>)
