Many of the people that see what’s going on in our country are in the 45+ age category; their greater experience in life has taught them that not everything shown in the media corresponds to what’s really happening. We should cut the 18 YO some slack and maybe provide guidance where we can. He got caught in a terrible situation based on that lack of experience, made it out (probably with divine help), and I’m sure has & will learn a lot from it.
Hopefully all this happening at a younger age doesn’t overwhelm him once the lawsuit money starts rolling in. Just my $.03.

I’d like to say I wish the young man could join the United States Marine Corps because he’d be an instant legend, and they would turn him into a lean mean fighting machine. Except I wouldn’t advise anybody to join today’s service. They’ll get you killed for their feelz now.
