Hi FRiends! Here’s an after action report on the Calgary version of today’s supposedly world wide freedom rallies.

My wife and I just got home from the rally at Shaw Millennium Park, downtown next to the old armoury. Left early because we were turning into little icicles. Next time I’m wearing long johns and my big Ford swag winter hat. And seventeen pair of socks.

Park was packed. Not sure of the crowd, but up to 10,000 or so, which means the media will report hundreds. Far too many for social distancing, but no one there gave a damn about that anyway, obviously. Almost no masks; I was surprised there were any.

Mostly white, but all races and ages, just like Calgary as a whole. I wasn’t even the oldest one there!

That, plus literally hundreds of cars driving by, honking their horns in support. Police cars on the perimeter and three cops on horseback at the back, just standing there, but they might as well not have been there and were probably only there in case the lefties showed up looking for trouble and there was no evidence of that while we were there, about 1.5 hours. I doubt anything untoward would have happened after we left, though you never know.

Great family atmosphere, because we were all family there. One guy carried a sign saying “free illegal hugs” and he was kept very busy. Made me wish I’d thought to make a sign offering free mammograms. Some Paytriots there, like a group selling “pure blood” sweatshirts that are cute and humourous but probably not helpful.

Various subversive groups had tables for info and/or merchandise, like the PPC party (Canada’s more conservative party than the Conservative Party), an Alberta Independence Party and a group pushing for us to just secede and join the U.S. I got some info from a couple of them. Maybe it’s time to get involved again.

Plenty of other signs, home made and professionally done. Ran the gamut of messages, but mostly Covid and Commie related. Plenty of laughter and we heard about four speakers before we chickened out and went looking for heat.

The guy speaking when we left was an area doctor who got grief for trying to prescribe Ivermectin. Before that was a woman who grew up in Czechoslovakia under communism, pointing out all the analogies and the strategies being used against the people and how she’s lived it all before. Guy before that was from Saskatchewan, but he spoke well anyway, lol. His best friend of 35 years pretty well exploded and died within a few days of the Fauchi ouchie and he’s naturally pissed off. Don’t blame him; from the picture, she looked cute.

How communal was it? Well, a guy in a Saskatchewan Roughriders toque was about three feet from me so I opened up my coat to show him my Calgary Stampeders t-shirt. He laughed and said the only reason he’d worn it was to get reactions! I’m not even sure he was a fan. Funny as hell, though.

It felt great being there and we’ll do it again, flesh willing. Like a huge family reunion of regular folks you don’t know but who you feel comfortable with right off the bat. Knuckle-dragging Neanderthals, all of us, cheering and laughing together and thumbing our collective noses at the folks who’ve been manipulating friends, family and neighbours into thinking we’re the problem. And reassuring each other that we’re not only not alone, but that we’re growing in numbers every day, every time someone new takes the red pill.

Life is grand!

I apologize for the vanity. And now I’m going to have a whiskey.
