An intake screening form erroneously described Mr. Epstein as a Black male (he was white), and indicated that he had no prior sex offense convictions, even though he was a registered sex offender with two 2008 convictions in Florida, for solicitation of prostitution and procurement of minors to engage in prostitution. A few social phone calls he made were not recorded, logged or monitored, records show, an apparent violation of jail policy. ...
...The night he killed himself, Mr. Epstein lied to jail officials and said he wanted to phone his mother — who was long dead. He instead called his girlfriend. Jail personnel left him alone in his cell that night, despite an explicit directive that he be assigned a cellmate. ...
...The call was to his 30-year-old girlfriend, Karyna Shuliak, whom he helped put through dental school, said three people with knowledge of the phone conversation. Mr. Epstein, they said, gave no indication during the call that he planned to kill himself.
The call that night, however, was not included in the phone logs provided to The Times by the Bureau of Prisons. The logs show only one social call during his stay — more than a week earlier, on July 30, to Ms. Shuliak.
She is one of the largest beneficiaries of several trusts that Mr. Epstein set up over the years, according to three people briefed on the matter. Ms. Shuliak declined to comment through her lawyer, Maurice Sercarz. ...

Epstein allegedly paid for her education. She graduated from Columbia University and is now a registered dentist in both California & Florida. It is also documented that Shuliak has her own practice in the Virgin Islands at an address that is supposedly linked to Jeffrey Epstein. The Virgin Islands is also where Epstein’s “Orgy Island” is located.
From 2015 to 2018, Shuliak was registered as living at Jeffrey Epstein’s Palm Beach mansion in Florida. Records show that she is also registered as living at Little Saint James, Epstein’s private Carribean Island, from 2013. She is currently still registered as living at the address.
In October, 2013 Karyna Shuliak married Jennifer Kalin. This same sex union was largely believed to be falsified as a way for Shuliak to legally remain living in the United States. Kalin and Shuliak divorced in July 2019.
The lawyer for Jeffrey Epstein’s victims, Sigrid McCawley, says that organizing same sex marriages for women around the world that Epstein wanted to keep close to him was a known tool in his sordid sex trafficking scheme.
Epstein was allegedly known for orchestrating same sex marriages for his victims because it allowed him get citizenship for girls without raising red flags for himself. It is not believed that Shuliak was actually in love with Jennifer Kalin, who was also connected to Jeffrey Epstein.
