Interesting tidbit.
metformin was originally introduced as an anti-influenza drug and that glucose-lowering was only one of its side effects.

Did anyone else wonder this? The 79 year old man that occupies the WH, had a Colonoscopy and polyp removal yesterday. Now for anyone who has had one, or knows someone who has had one, and who is much younger and healthier, you know that proceedure pretty much sidelines you for the rest of the day and even the next. So how come this old man, who can barely walk and talk at the same time, emerged later the same day with MORE energy than he usually has? Weird.

But I have to think that if a middle-aged guy who was healthy and fit and working for a contractor last month just died all of a sudden, it likely wasn’t because he electrocuted himself, or fell of a ladder... What a shame, the poor guy.

You could always check his obit and see if it says he "died suddenly." 😒

The DH has had such a procedure more than once, and he is not out of commission afterwards. Years ago, the sedative that was used would make him want to sleep for the rest of the day, but they use a different drug now, and he’s able to carry on just fine after he gets home.
