I don't think so, either. One, he is as much of a political rallying symbol for the Left as for the Right - Two, I think he made a deal on the way out to keep Deep State prosecutors away from his family and business. Overall, he has been much quieter than I would have expected this year.
Trump's endorsement of a "successor" in 2023 will be sufficient to keep the MAGA conservatives on board, but will force the Left to start over again with a new demonization campaign against whoever that successor is.
