Oh, I always thought it was in homage to Sam Spade. LOL Sam frequently called his secretary "Precious" and occasionally the other women in The Maltese Falcon. :)I think he may have called Wilmer "precious" in one scene. I had that fella pegged as a punk the moment he appeared on screen.
