Face your fears. Easier said then done. Though it's true. Don't do it alone.
That event likely put a lot of demean you really shouldn't have.

I used to swim very well, in big waves (sort of dangerous ones too, on the north shore of Oahu). I learned how to swim in the ocean as a tiny child.

I almost drowned on a beach on the Big Island. Saved miraculously. I could never swim in any waves at all after that. Had to be flat ocean.
