Interesting piece. If there is an underlying commonality to the examples cited it is that progressives generally are incapable of deciding when a particular social experiment has failed, inevitably doubling down on failure and defending the precepts by apportioning the blame elsewhere. When educational theory produces a society of illiterates and law enforcement theory creates streets that are unsafe in broad daylight, the experiment has failed and will continue to fail until someone puts a stop to it. And until that happens you have a New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, Baltimore, Detroit...I need not go on.
I look at Metro Detroit local newscasts and what do I see? I see a lot of perpetual image rehab going on. It’s always “The Big Comeback” and that the next “Renaissance” is close at hand (just you wait and see). The viewing areas of some of these stations extend well beyond the city itself, but they really go out of their way to make you believe that “After all, we’re ALL Detroiters!”...and that’s even if you live 60 miles north of Eight Mile Road!
