I don't know if a person can still find it but my Mom did a lot with tobacco twine. She grew up in rural North Carolina and tobacco twine was plentiful. It's just a strong cotton twine used to tie the harvested tobacco, in bundles, to sticks that would then hang in the drying barns. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RE-_mHLQ2pw

When she was in high school (1930) she started crocheting a bedspread with the twine as that was all she had. It's a beautiful piece which I now have. A museum wanted to buy it from her but she declined.
