There were two “misfires” previously. Though unlikely, two “stuck” bullets could have left the barrel upon firing a blank. Checking the barrel has been a standard procedure since the Lee incident. Missing over skipping that step would be gross negligence.

Though unlikely, two “stuck” bullets could have left the barrel upon firing a blank.The press keeps using the word "misfire" to indicate an accidental discharge, when in reality, a misfire is when a gun does not fire when the trigger is pulled meaning the cartrdige primer did not ignite the round.
