The scarves are made of 100 percent rayon, which can easily catch fire. About 20,000 scarves in the Beach Wave and Brushstroke Oblong styles are subject to the recall.
No injuries have been reported, but the CPSC said it noticed the scarves online and ordered samples that its experts then tested for flammability, The New York Times reports.
“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled scarves and return them to the place where purchased for a full refund,” the CPSC website says. “Consumers who purchased the scarves online will be contacted directly by online retailers with return instructions.”
“This is a dangerous product,” CPSC spokesman Scott Wolfson told the Times.
