Mom, I wanted to ask your opinion on vaccinating 5 year olds with this vaccine? Are you concerned that infants might get covid19? We’re having a family discussion in which one parent disagrees with the other.
My personal opinion only not advice to anyone else. I will not be vaccinating my 8 year old right away. As it stands kids (i’m talking healthy kids with no underlying diseases or risk factors) can get sick from covid but it is quite rare. I plan to wait a year or so as long as this continues to be true. If in a year we have more experience and covid is still an issue I will likely have her vaccinated.
It is an individual risk benefit for everyone. I have been fully vaccinated and took the booster so I am clearly not opposed to the vaccine i’m just not sure the risk of covid is high enough in healthy kids to take any risk no matter how small from the vaccine. I encourage you to discuss it with your pediatrician.
