No bypass. Daily Mail reported there was an armorer on the set. It didn't give the woman's name, but it was a woman.
I’ve heard it both ways. Not sure who’s right. Lots of BS flying around right now. I am going to withhold opinion until things become clearer.

I used to have a blank pistol - the barrel was filled in; it shot only blanks. I suppose you would have injured your hand if you put a real bullet in it and fired it.
