Why would live ammunition be anywhere near the set? It could not have been just wadding from a blank.
Agree, don’t know anything about their safety protocols but this has to be a major screwup.
According to early reports live ammo was not permitted on site. I heard this morning that they may have been hit by shrapnel. Don’t know enough about prop guns to make an educated evaluation of the incident.
Other stories I have read say that they are still investigating what sort of 'projectile' struck the two victims.
Given that particular phrasing from the Sheriffs, I doubt that actual live ammunition was involved.
Blanks can kill if shot at a person at room distances.

“Why would live ammunition be anywhere near the set?”
It is now being reported the crew was using it for live target practice 1 or 2 days earlier.
If so major lapse of safety protocols.

I question that as well. If this is common practice, it’s surprising it doesn’t happen more often.
