To: Whatever Works

How could a prop gun be allowed to have live ammo? I would have a hard time living with this if that happened by my hand and on my set. I’m no Alec Baldwin fan but I wouldn’t wish this on him. Terrible tragedy.

Doesn’t have to be live ammo...blanks are dangerous enough.

Back in the 1980s TV actor Jon-Erik Hexum was killed on the set of his show “Cover-Up” when he was goofing around with a prop gun he didn’t know was loaded. He put it to his head and pulled the trigger, and the blast from the blank drove bone fragments into his brain.

Why would anyone even still be using blanks or ‘wads’ or whatever? With today’s special effects just point and the animation folks can do the rest down to sounds, yes? Baldwin is a co-producer/actor so not like there’s a lack of access to editing talent

Why was even a prop gun loaded with blanks, which can be deadly pointed at the woman and why was his finger on the trigger?
