It’s interesting reading the different ways we were all raised yet our parents all held the same values. I was raised by my grandmother. There were 7 of us, ages 1-10 when she took us on. She was strict but she had to be.
I was more lenient with my own kids, but I had the awesome privilege of being home with them and being aware of what they were doing. Dinner was always at the table with each other. Seems like conversations always veered to the silliest topics, but it was fun. I ended up with great kids who are now conservative, productive adults.
When I had my first child, I had a pediatrician that was nearing 80 and very old school. He told me never read Dr. Spock.
