Some forms of vitamins have “methyl donor” capability, but to really get a decent amount, you need to eat foods high in it, or supplement with choline (phosphatidyl choline, Alpha-GPC, or citicoline) or with betaine (also known as “trimethylglycine” and “betaine anhydrous”).

The study only used fructose to get the depressive state in place. You may have this state for other reasons, for which the methyl donor substances could still be helpful.
