Thanks, that was interesting, but they didn’t offer any info, on how long it would take for that megatsunami to reach the east coast. I wonder if they can even make an estimate for that.

They figure 7 to 9 hours. It’s the worst-case wave size estimates that are all over the place, from around 3 feet to 100 feet. I wouldn’t want to be there if a wave is coming, but if I were living there, I’d have a few items packed and hit the road within 10 minutes of the landslide (assuming that I knew of the landslide when it happened). Then I’d head west to Naples, and only then turn north. Even at 100 feet, the wave will run out of gas pretty quickly in Florida, so I’d expect the west side to be safe(r).
8 hours. Wave would be from 30 to 109 foot. Would wash 12 miles inland. Would hit the entire eastern seaboard from Maine to Florida. Bahamas, Bermuda, and small islands would be wiped off the map. I’m only 7 miles from the beach.
