These new up and comers all have a secret agenda which they will never tell you on campaign trail. Reminds me of Phil Graham.. He was never a Texan nor ever planned on living in Texas. But we voted for him over and over..he was just an opportunist who spouted good ideas.
If the Governor of Texas or any other Republican Governor uses the Guard that way the very first thing tgat will happen is the Guard will be federalizsd and stripped away from the Governor’s authority. As far as I know there isn’t anything they can do to stop tge Federalization of the Guard. Any officer who refuses tge federal orders gets court-martialed. Seeing whats going on with tge Marine Officer who is currently locked i solitary waiting trail the charges against the Guard would be far more severe.
To do this without getting the Texas guard nationalized it would first have to be totally reorganized I a way that any toe hold that tge feds could use to nationalize. That would include not taking any federal money or equipment
