Classic treatment for gout for about 60 years. Be careful with it, however, don't overdo it; it is potentially toxic in higher doses. It is derived naturally from the autumn crocus plant. (Nature is great!)

Used temporarily in severe gout attacks. For long term maintenance to prevent further gout attacks take allopurinol 300mg daily; it is an oldie also and so cheap they practically pay you to take it. Prescription required, however. (Also can help to prevent kidney stones.)
