I wasn't aware of the profundity of the split until a relative started to learn Norwegian. There are more Norwegian speakers outside of Norway than there are inside of Norway, the ones I've known had either parents or grandparents who were born in Norway. Besides that cool submerged bridge project, other reasons I like Norway include the apparently little-known fact that they're not a member of the EU, and sell the EU about 1/3 of natural gas and a good sized chunk of the EU's oil.
