When I was a wayward teen, I had a transistor radio I got for Christmas. I liked to take it to bed with me (pre skeezer days) and listen to it under the covers.
It would pick up stations from L.A. (a long way off) and I'd rather listen to them than the local, boring stations. They had way cooler music, for some reason.
Aaaanyway. With the cool music, came some static. I put up with it just so I could hear the good stuff. There was no getting around it. It was either a little static and cool, or no static and boring.
The trick of it was, knowing that the static was nothing but noise. An annoyance. Worthless, and not part of the cool.
Are you picking up what I'm putting down?
Sidenote: One night, listening to my radio, I called the station and was the whatever number caller. I won $100 in WAM (walkin' around money) and got on the radio with my teenage voice. Just thought you should know.
KEZY or KRLA?
I was a KEZY girl.
