I saw a machine in the centre of the floor at my polling station in 2019. It wasn’t connected to anything by cables. I asked what it was and was told it was a counting machine. The Conservative candidate won by 2200 votes in that election.
This time, there wasn’t a machine visible at my polling station. The Conservative candidate won by 3000.
When we vote here, our name is crossed off a master voters list when we show up. I was told that the sheets of voters names are sent somewhere at the end of each day and clean ones with the remaining voters are given out each morning.
I’ve never worked at a polling station so I don’t know how easy it would be for someone to take the list of people who didn’t vote and create votes for their preferred candidate once the polls are closed for good. I can think of an easy way to prevent that but I don’t know what they do in practice.
I raised a fuss when I saw the “tabulating machine” at the polling station in 2019. We voted at the very modern fire hall in 2019 and at the very old Legion this year. It’s hard to decide about the fraud. Canadians aren’t very well-informed in general because they largely rely on the TV for news and believe all of it. Stupid and fraud amount to almost the same thing. That’s how we keep getting Trudeau, but at least it’s still a minority government.
