Yes the ships are sitting there.

We saw them when we were landing in Long Beach and a week later when we flew out of Long Beach.

So why are the ships not moving? Why are they not being unloaded. I realize that there's a huge backlog, but they should be making progress, if slowly.

That photo is how Long Beach looked when I lived there during one of the longshoreman strikes sometime around 2003/04. They didn't have bodies to unload the ships, so they sat out there for weeks. Now I'm wondering if it's a lack of trucks, because I can't imagine the longshoremen would be walking away from those jobs. (But maybe, dunno.)

I guess a clue would be to look at the truck traffic on the 710 freeway heading away from the harbor. If it's not bumper to bumper semis around 10 am, then there's a truck shortage.
