Wouldn’t the vaccinated animals be shedding the modified virus?
They wouldn’t be “infecting” other animals, so much as “vaccinating” them, I would think.
The parvo vaccine has been connected to that scourge of Dobermans, Dilated cardiomyopathy, which “suddenly appeared” shortly after the parvo vaccine was created.
People argue endlessly about what “causes” DCM, blaming food, genetics, etc but when other breeds *also* are now being hit heavily by DCM, there must be some commonality that no one is looking at, being obsessed with lines/foods/legumes/whatever.
They ignore numerous scientific journals that prove the parvovirus causes DCM in humans.
To that end, there are a few kennels that will pick one pup to get the vaccine and then it’s placed back in with its litter.
The pup “inoculates” the rest of the litter, as proven by titer testing.
It’s an effective way of protecting the litter but there still is that sacrificial pup.
My Dobes come from a kennel with a lifetime guarantee which is *voided* if I give them anymore vaccines than they received at the kennel as pups, except for the legally required rabies shots, for the rest of their lives.
Ironically, they volunteered hundreds of dogs to Fort Dodge, who then invented the parvo vaccine with them as test subjects.
Mainly if the vaxed animals are pooping in the streets. So tell the vaxed to not poop outside and inside flush immediately. There is a T shirt slogan there somewhere.
