Gabby Petito's best friend claims Brian Laundrie had jealousy and control issues and even stole her ID once to stop her from going dancing at a bar and made her delete a tracking app so her pal could always locate her

The fiancé of missing 'van-life' woman Gabby Petito presents himself as a sweet and caring guy, but is actually jealous and controlling, her friend has claimed in an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com.

Rose Davis said Brian Laundrie, 23, allegedly went so far as to hide Gabby's ID once so that she couldn't meet up with her at a bar, triggering a violent episode similar to the one police investigated weeks before her disappearance.

'Brian took her ID just so she wouldn't be able to come out with me,' she told DailyMail.com on Friday.

'He's got these jealousy issues and he struggles from what Gabby called these "episodes," where he would hear things and hear voices and wouldn't sleep.

“Howlin didn’t like me very much either but I tried to avoid her”

Avoiding that nasty pack of jackals is how I survived the Bush Immigration Purges as well. They loved to lure the fearless or unwary into battles and then get their mod collaborators to ban their targets. Wardaddy is far more generous to howlin’s memory than I am and I didn’t even get banned.

There have certainly been some acerbic posters. I have been one myself on occasion. FR has seen some knock-down, drag-out battles. The biggest one that I was in was Terri Schiavo. That one made enemies.

I agree with you. There can be many reasons why people do the things they do. Others like to immediately hope for the worst. Lets look at some examples in this case.

Question: Why did he leave her wherever he did?
Possible answers: 1) She left him and took off with someone else. She may have asked him to return the van back to Fl
2) She was eaten by a bear and he is to afraid to admit that he was scared and ran off and left her
3) She came home with him and went into hiding to create buzz on the internet and get more viewers for whatever blog they have going.
4) She may have taken off in the middle of the night and he woke up alone. Waited around for her to come back and when she didn’t just went home.

Question: Why won’t he talk to the police? 1) Because any lawyer will advise their client to never speak to the police. In fact they went way overboard during the traffic stop and should never have said everything they did.
2) Because he killed her although he would have had to really freak out to go to that level. No idea if he is capable since I know nothing about either of them.

3) he has nothing to add since he doesn’t know where she is or who she is with and may be embarrassed that she left him

Question: Why is he missing or in hiding now? 1) Who says he is missing or in hiding. Maybe he is just back from a crazy ordeal many months long with her and decided to just go fishing.
2) he is guilty AF and jumped on the first boat to Cuba to hide out.
3) The two of them are actually out camping right now.

Lots of possible answers to these questions. I’m just throwing out a few.

And you say she was having the “episode” that day.

I was reporting the conclusion of the police officers that interviewed both Ms. Petito and her boyfriend. They chose not to arrest her for her assaults on her boyfriend because they believed "it appeared that this incident was more accurately categorized as a mental/emotional health "break" than a domestic assault." "Officer Robbins got the male lodging through Seekhaven, Gabbie retained possession of the van, and the agreed to separate for the night"

Another officer involved in the traffic stop wrote "I do not believe the situation escalated to the level of a domestic assault as much as that of a mental health crisis." "I then determined that the most appropriate course of action would be to help separate the parties for the night so they could reset their mental states without interference from one another, and although they did express a desire to stay together, the both ultimately agreed to be separated until the following day." "Accordingly I was ale to contact Safe Haven and get Brian a hotel room for the night."

I can see how you might see what happened then differently now in the light of what has happened since then. But you seem to be overlooking the part where Ms. Petito hit her boyfriend before he tried to lock her out of the van. Imagine if the story was that some guy was hitting his girlfriend in the parking lot, and she tried to lock herself in the car to get away from the fight. Whose side would you be on then? Would that woman be wrong to take the keys to her boyfriend's car? And just as a hypothetical question, would it be OK if Ms. Petito's boyfriend took her keys away from her if she wanted to drive after getting drunk?

It may well be that Ms. Petito's boyfriend is guilty of a terrible crime given how this story has unfolded since August 13th. He sure seems suspicious.

But at that time, without the benefit of hindsight, it seems like the police did the best they could to calm down a dispute between two upset people in a close relationship.

You are right that many things may have happened. We all hope that the most likely and tragic didn't happen.

Ms. Petito's boyfriend's actions certainly seem unusual and suspicious, but at this point I don't think anyone but the people involved and perhaps some law enforcement investigators know what really happened.

Since the whole LBGTQ crowd has been taken off the DSM list (list of mental disorders) we walk a fine line now with people with run of the mill mental disorders like Gabby and Brian. The inmates are running the asylum.

One of her friends has said publicly that Brian was controlling and manipulative of Gabby. You have no idea (and neither do I) what happened before she “hit” him. But he did lay hands on her.

I look at it this way - Laundries returned to Florida with her van and apparently without the love of his life, Gabby. 10 days went by without a word. Then he and his parents refused to talk to her family and the cops/feds about her whereabouts when they couldn’t reach her.

WHO DOES THAT?

THAT’S EVIL!

We will have to agree to disagree.

I can guarantee the NEXT time those cops are in that position, they WILL arrest. It happens more than what is commonly known, cops give them a break and something terrible happens.
I’ve read about cops that have suicided themselves over the guilt over their decision that if they had only done what they should have done.

Only if she was carrying a pic-a-nic basket.

We will have to agree to disagree.

I don't think we disagree at all about the ultimate test of Mr. Laundries' behavior. I think I can answer your question about who does that. No decent, rationally thinking man traveling and in a relationship with someone like Ms. Petito would leave her in a situation where she wasn't at least with other people and generally appeared safe.

And then he would promptly inform others close to her like her parents and friends about her situation.

Tragically for whatever reasons ultimately come out Mr. Laundries failed that test. It might be evil, it might be mental illness, but it isn't good in any way.

Unless I’m defending Dixie from neocon virtue signaling race baiters aping Glenn Beck or Jonah Goldberg..

I’m like Palo.....I love everybody...especially women....I’ve always been weak for girls....

There is a reason I live on h*np*ck lane....no joking

After the civil war all the men were dead from the war and the plantation and farm owners were all widows and they remarried and folks joked the men had to watch their manners since the widows held the deeds of trust

My wife thinks it’s a proper abode for me...

I was zotted during Schiavo

It looked bloody....a terrible saga

It's easy to only see words on a page and not the person behind them. As I get older, I find myself having less patience so I try to avoid anything that would unleash snark. Sometimes, I'm not very successful.

“Give a passive/aggressive control of a person that has anxiety attacks and you can see the tragedy coming.”

Excellent observation. I came with a built in avoidance detector for those types of situations. My siblings and cousins - not so much. Watched them go through hell because they didn’t understand that process and were terrible at seeing it coming.

Some quick, shallow (LOL) thoughts, young people now go for "surface pizazz" rather than steady and dependable companions. They, themselves, don't have the depth of character that their Grandparents and GGrandparents had because they haven't needed it. They are afraid to be alone so make poor choices.

I know people in toxic relationships but won't leave so I ask, "What do you love about them?" and they can't answer.

The news just released the 911 call from Aug 12. The caller said he and his companion saw the man “slapping” the woman. It was being done out in the open in town so there are probably other witnesses.

But the police labeled him as the victim. Unbelievable.

Watch the video of the traffic stop and read the police report, including the police officer's description of what the witness, Ms. Petito and Mr. Laundrie said.

I don't think the police were wrong in their assessment based on what the parties and the witness told them.
