The girl gets mad and storms away then takes up with two Lesbians. The BF is pissed tot he extent that he just drives away leaving Gabby with her chosen direction. He drives alol the way back to Florida not knowing or caring what happens to her. A third party creepy guy hanging around the campsites murders the Lesbians and takes Gabby hostage, then murders her, too. BF is so pissed at Gabby that he doesn't want to even cooperate with police since he learns of the murders of the Lesbians with whom he left Gabby.

Third party at the Utah coop— I do not have as much info as I would prefer to make that leap. Does Utah have more than its share of sexual deviants? Something to do with Utah’s unique religious history? I’ve only visited Utah but even then in the few times I was there, it seemed different. However I was not in the countryside.
If the separation happened at Utah then how to explain the bf texting gabby mom from Yosemite 7 days later? I am trying to come up with a plausible scenario for that. Perhaps the police are not sharing something such as the cell phone tower log info, or being deliberately vague or even deceptive on that in an attempt to lure a perp into making a mistake. All that is highly speculative so I did not go into it in my first cut speculation.
I hope something shakes out. I imagine the police have already been all through most of these scenarios... but still there might be a small chance that someone comes up with a new idea... anything that could possibly help...

Nope. Occam's says if he did the lesbians, she was involved enough to leave him second thoughts, given she likely could not stop talking about it (OCD: "What if? What if?"). And then the irony kicks in -- IF he did the lesbians, then the alphabets will DNA him and convict him from that crime scene, and Gabby may never be vindicated. That happens more than anyone should prefer with even small-time serial killers.
