To the best of my knowledge most cars, unless they have a system like ONSTAR active do not have an active signal transmitting the car’s location.
However most newer cars do collect GPS location info on board. It is a passive system.
Any car with an onboard map system will be collecting GPS coordinates to support the guidance system.
Something else to think about is if you are an EZPass subscriber. It will tell your location and time stamp that location whenever you pass a toll booth.

I dont have onstar but I have a button that if I push it gets me emergency help and knows where I am. I do not have the nave package either.

I dont have onstar but I have a button that if I push it gets me emergency help and knows where I am. IF it is Ford 911 assist it requires your cell phone to be linked to the car by Bluetooth.

I don’t trust “safe” or “private” cell phones as far as I can throw them.
The current Pfascism is turning me into an anti-tech fanatic.

no I dont think so. It just sits there. Once your cell phone is linked to the Ford SYNC (part of the stereo) for the first time your phone will link to it every time your phone is in the car when it starts. It is completely automatic.
If your air bags deploy it will automatically dial 911 and report an accident with your location and severity of the accident even if you are unconscious.
