It is Trump’s party. Get over it

https://donsurber.blogspot.com/2021/09/it-is-trumps-party-get-over-it.html

Excerpt:

Never Trump Congressman Anthony Gonzalez of Ohio announced he won’t seek a third term because of Donald Trump. Gonzalez won’t be missed, He voted to impeach Trump.

I do not get the congressman’s problem. Water is wet, the media is biased, and Trump is the leader of the Republican Party.
It is no contest.

McLaughlin and Associates polled Republicans nationally and asked if Trump won the nomination in 2024, would you vote for him in the general election?

86% of Republicans said they would.

There are your Republican values and principles. Donald Trump proved his worthiness as a Republican, as a conservative, and as an American in his 4 years as president. He has nothing to be ashamed of.

Gonzalez, well, that’s a different story.

Instead of fighting Donald Trump year after year after year, Republicans in Washington should embrace him because Americans do.

...The issues are there for Republicans. Biden has botched and politicized our efforts to contain covid. Biden’s spend-it-all mentality is stoking inflation. And Biden’s surrender of Afghanistan is unacceptable.

Never let a crisis go to waste. There’s 3 of them. It is time for goons like Gonzalez to go home and let real conservatives run the party again.

The Republicans are Trump’s party because he — at great personal sacrifice — did in 4 years what the RINOs promised to do for 40 years.

I mean, how hard is it to move an embassy to Jerusalem? You buy some land, build an embassy, and move in.

The future of our country is either a slow slide to socialism or a restoration of our constitutional republic. Only one man can lead the restoration.

...”Trump turned counterrevolutionary restorationism into a true force on the right, in uneasy partnership with prudent conservatism. Many heavyweights who resented the transition chose to lay low, hoping to ride it out. Others—Mitt Romney, Liz Cheney, and the Never Trumpers—preferred to lean woke while waggling a schoolmarmish finger in all directions.

“Will the restorationism that Trump pioneered become a lasting political force? Or will it remain tied to his unique personality and disappear when he leaves the scene? The answer will define the future of the GOP—and the future of America.

“Many of today’s rising conservative stars promise to build a far bolder GOP. Ted Cruz, Ron DeSantis, Rand Paul, and Jim Jordan may be less extreme personalities than Donald Trump, but they share his willingness to reject corrupt authority, challenge prevailing narratives, and promote strategic noncompliance.

“If Trump can forge this younger generation into a sustainable restorationist movement, he will emerge as one of the most consequential figures in American history. If not, he will be remembered as a controversial speedbump on America’s glidepath into wokeness.”

To tell the truth, I prefer someone younger.

But I need someone I can trust and right now, Trump is the only one who meets the criteria.

So let Gonzalez take his ball and go home. It’s a soccer ball. We’re playing football.
