I’m apparently hyper-sensitive to it. An effective dose as a sleep aid for me is just .25 mg sublingually. Any more than that results in dizziness - and after a few days, depression.
I too sometimes take 5mg at night...and it scarily makes me almost comatose until the next morning, and then I spend a full day groggy and non-functional. The amounts suggested here (36-72mg) have to be for very severe cases of Covid.
How big are you? I’m 5’2 and weigh 118. I most assuredly cannot take the same amount of any drug as a larger person. I take many supplements per day and always adjust dosage to my size and weight. 5 mg of melatonin is my max, and usually cut pill in half, which seems to be enough to guarantee a good night’s sleep.
