Manchin Throws More Cold Water on Democrats’ Budget Proposal

Reagan McCarthy
Posted: Sep 02, 2021 3:55 PM

Democratic Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) threw cold water on Democrats’ $3.5 trillion budget proposal, yet again. The “swing” vote lawmaker encouraged fellow Democrats to practice a “strategic pause” rather than rush to spend trillions of taxpayer dollars, in a new op-ed for the Wall Street Journal.

“The nation faces an unprecedented array of challenges and will inevitably encounter additional crises in the future. Yet some in Congress have a strange belief there is an infinite supply of money to deal with any current or future crisis, and that spending trillions upon trillions will have no negative consequence for the future. I disagree,” Manchin writes. “An overheating economy has imposed a costly “inflation tax” on every middle- and working-class American. At $28.7 trillion and growing, the nation’s debt has reached record levels. Over the past 18 months, we’ve spent more than $5 trillion responding to the coronavirus pandemic. Now Democratic congressional leaders propose to pass the largest single spending bill in history with no regard to rising inflation, crippling debt or the inevitability of future crises. Ignoring the fiscal consequences of our policy choices will create a disastrous future for the next generation of Americans.”

He goes on to encourage true debate on the package, and what Congress should spend money on.

“We must allow for a complete reporting and analysis of the implications a multitrillion-dollar bill will have for this generation and the next. Such a strategic pause will allow every member of Congress to use the transparent committee process to debate: What should we fund, and what can we simply not afford? I, for one, won’t support a $3.5 trillion bill, or anywhere near that level of additional spending, without greater clarity about why Congress chooses to ignore the serious effects inflation and debt have on existing government programs,” he continues.

Both the House and Senate passed framework for the budget proposal. In addition to opposition from Manchin and Senator Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ), no Republicans have supported the Democrats’ proposal thus far.

SAN ANGELO — San Angelo has been named the fastest growing city for COVID-19 in Texas, according to a report by 247wallst.com.

On Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021, city officials reported 129 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total of active cases to 1,929 in Tom Green County. Thursday’s data did not factor in the the report, which used numbers from Aug. 24-30.

From February 2020 to Aug. 30, 2021, San Angelo had 21,117 cases, which factored out to 17,947 per 100,000 residents. As a comparison, Texas has an overall average of 12,248.3 cases per 100,000, according to the report.

Or is there another reason for your high count.

Stay safe, Rusty.

“Evidence mounts that Biden manufactured weeks-long false narrative on Afghanistan”

By John Solomon

Canceled congressional report, request to Afghan president to peddle story “whether it is true or not” raise alarm, and talk of impeachment.

The long saga of the Russia collusion scandal — during which law enforcement, media, political operatives and intelligence assets manufactured a two-year illusion of a Trump-Russia conspiracy that did not exist — raised questions about a new era of political warfare in which false realities could be foisted upon the American public.

The bungled, bloody U.S. exit from Afghanistan now has some fearing the Biden administration practiced deception by omission and commission to create a two-month false narrative that misled Congress and the American public by making the situation in and around Kabul look better than it was.

Two powerful pieces of evidence emerged this week that strongly suggest the Afghan exit wasn’t just a case of incompetence but rather an intentional effort to use PR lipstick to disguise a Biden plan that was secretly willing to accept chaos and stranded Americans as a possible outcome to avoid further military casualties during the exit.

On Wednesday, Reuters published a leaked transcript of a call that quoted Biden asking the soon-to-flee Afghan president Ashraf Ghani to offer a narrative to change the “perception” of the Taliban’s rapid advance in Afghanistan, “whether it is true or not.”

“I need not tell you the perception around the world and in parts of Afghanistan, I believe, is that things are not going well in terms of the fight against the Taliban,” Biden is quoted as telling the Afghan president. “And there is a need, whether it is true or not, there is a need to project a different picture.”

The White House did not dispute the account of the July 23 call, even though it suggested that an American president asked a foreign leader to assist in creating a potentially fake story.

Earlier this week, Biden administration officials also conceded the president granted himself a waiver to avoid providing Congress this summer a legally required report on the dangers of withdrawing from Afghanistan, leaving lawmakers mostly in the dark about a situation in which U.S. confidence in the Afghan government and military rapidly deteriorated.

One act of commission, another of omission that clearly created false expectations and impressions and empowered the president’s top aides — from Jen Psaki at the White House to John Kirby at the Pentagon — to make pronouncements like:

•Every American who wants to come home will be able to do so before Aug. 31.
•Every Afghan loyalist in danger could be evacuated.
•The Afghan army could hold Kabul for months after the U.S. departed.

In the end, none of those pronouncements were true, and the plan failed. Scores of Americans, thousands of Afghan loyalists and $85 billion in prized U.S. military hardware were left behind, Kabul fell to the Taliban before America’s departure, and 13 U.S. troops were killed in the single bloodiest American tragedy of the Afghan war in a decade.

Republican and Democratic lawmakers alike are now declaring they felt deceived by Biden and his team.

Holy crap!! I just received an e-mail from a Covid testing facility that they are REFUSING to administer a test to me because they don’t like my politics.
INSANE. I’m banned from making sure I don’t accidentally spread Covid? Going live with the e-mail on Instagram in 10 mins!

And yes—for the “she must be lying” crowd, I will be plastering the e-mail on Twitter and Instagram thereafter for the world to see.

The public Heath crisis is SO REAL, that they are now banning individuals from COMPLYING with rules to ensure they don’t spread COVID.

UPDATE. It turns out the facility that rejected my ability to take a Covid test receives both state and federal funding.
So no— she had NO RIGHT to deny me a covid test when my taxes go toward her operations

This situation is currently being escalated to the HHS.

Stay tuned!

Rich Outzen, career military officer and senior State Department advisor on the Middle East, rejoins the podcast to diagnose the politics, strategy and military realities that led to the current collapse of the American withdrawal from Afghanistan. Is the foreign policy establishment to blame? Does this blunder really compare to Saigon? Will the Taliban use the “Hezbollah-model” too find international sympathy in its governance of a fractured state?

We’re the closest town of any size from Del Rio, so I’m sure a lot of the Covid came from illegals. Midland had to put a hospital tent 8n the parking lot they have so many patients, and I bet some of that comes from illegals.

A Tennessee woman who owns an animal rescue center in Kabul was not allowed passage home by the Department of Defense because she carried a disabled puppy in her arms — one of 130 animals she was ordered to leave behind in the final days of airlifts.

Charlotte Maxwell-Jones refused to board the plane without her puppy on Monday, so the military ordered her to leave and turn loose 130 crated dogs that mostly belonged to Americans and Afghans who evacuated, according to social media postings. This occurred even though Maxwell-Jones secured flights from nonprofit organizations that had permission to land in a neutral country.

She left the airport after being stuck there for six days and returned home to an uncertain fate.

The Taliban visited Maxwell-Jones at home last week and ordered her to leave with her employees, she said in a tearful video posted on Twitter. She raised $703,705 on a GoFundMe page for an animal evacuation and desperately sought a landing permit.

“Five minutes ago, a fairly large group of Taliban left my lawn. … One of them had a grenade launcher. They told me I should leave immediately and tried to put guards inside my house. … We settled on outside my house,” Maxwell-Jones said in her video. “They have said they will give us safe passage to the airport for as large a group that we have. They told me to leave first. It’s very obvious what will happen.”

Maxwell-Jones was allowed to airlift military dogs, so she handed 46 animals to Veteran Sheepdogs of America for transport to Turkey. A video posted Tuesday said the dogs were in a hangar and given water in preparation for transport. However, the remaining dogs weren’t so fortunate. Maxwell-Jones begged the military to allow her to open bags of kibble and spread it across the tarmac for the suddenly homeless dogs, according to social media.

“In the end, the dogs and their caretakers were explicitly NOT allowed to board military aircraft, and numerous private charter aircraft were not granted access to the airport either,” SPCA International said in a statement. “Charlotte was informed that most of the [shelter] dogs had to be released into the airport on August 30 as the airport was evacuated – turning once rescued shelter dogs into homeless strays.”
