Our former allies are getting ready to split with us.

I say former, because they see whats coming with this bastard.

Wait, it will start coming out soon in the open.

If this is the stance of the US government, the administration should formally request, through a public statement by the President, that the AUMF that enabled twenty years of war, be rescinded by congress immediately. Might as well cut off the spigot for pointless defense contracts and make something positive out of the disaster that is to come.

My 2cents,

Any military craft or vehicles left in Afghanistan will be so connected to military satellites. Being near or in them would be suicide if our military targets them. They are probably the most track able items in the country. Imagine how degraded quality and effectiveness would become if they were to disable disable all communication equipment, devices and software.

We will have to go back. Sorry… We have been myopic since 1776. We had to refight the Revolutionary War in 1812. The Union left the South too soon and Reconstruction brought its problems 100 years later. We left Europe too soon and had to go back in 1942. We left the Gulf too soon and had to go back after 9-11. SOB Leon Panera is probably right... we will have to go back and a group of 2500 specialists in Afghanistan would have probably made all the difference in the world, literally…. We stayed for decades in Germany and South Korea. “Policemen of the world” and “nation building” are uncomfortable ways to describe the role of America in the 20th- and 21st-centuries; but, if not us, who else will act accordingly to keep us safe in a dangerous world?

We did not "nation build" in Germany or Korea. We just kept the communists from overwhelming them while they did it themselves.

The "nation building" experiment was a failure in Iraq and Afghanistan because 1) they are not "nations." Iraq was cobbled together by British Imperialists after WWI, glomming together part of Kurdistan, Shiite South Irag and a Sunni heartland.

2.) Afghanistan is what was left over after the British and Russians could not conquer any more of Central Asia. It is just a bunch of tribes.

3.) Both regions are Muslim. They do not share our values. Unlike some Asian countries like Japan, Korea and Taiwan, they don't want to be like us. They never experienced a Classical Age, the Renaissance, Reformation or Enlightenment. They don't understand us and hate us for being so superior to them. In both cases, Bush should have gone in, killed our enemies, overthrown the regime and turned the place over to the least odious group with any power. The man was a naive fool. And now he blames Trump for his foolishness.

The war is not over. The war is not with the Taliban. The war is coming home. Where it belongs. It can only end here withe the death of the elite.
