Very true, but needless to say, if any of our kids wanted to go away to college, they had to come up with the money, since we had acceptable local options. None did, but all did fine using our local, mostly commuter, schools.
But yea, the moment you send off your kids to college, you might as well write them off. Sure, a small percentage, maybe 10% can withstand the pressure-cooker atmosphere driving them to become hate-America Leftists, and no, it is not possible to be sure your kids will be in that 10%, not at all.
