Apple will use the GlobalStar constellation. Going to be very expensive.

I've used satellite phones frequently in wilderness settings for over 20 years. GlobalStar sucks, but Iridium are outstanding. Very dependable. I don't consider them bulky at all.

You’re right the iridium phones are not bulky but compared to a slimmed down Iphone there is a difference...
