i’m not so sure percentages that addressed wild covid of last year apply to Delta. 70% of deaths last year were elderly seniors, but that’s not what we’re seeing this year.
What’s saving lives right now is a year’s experience real-time treating in-hospital along with vaccinations. Now we’ve got the virus by it’s tail, but only barely.
If we take the report that was posted a day or so ago that said 1/3 of US had acquired ‘natural’ immunity last year, I’m guessing some of the younger patients in the hospital may have had wild covid last year but it didn’t protect them from Delta. That is, natural immunity is as leaky as vaccines when challenged with Delta - that could be a big problem
