Biden doing it for each of the Marines actually gives more credence to the idea that he has a rosary around his wrist. Why look at it as well as touch it, I don’t know, but it’s possible he’s saying a silent Hail Mary. Or invoking the memory of Beau.

More telling is Jill Biden’s dress. Biden looking at his watch indicates boredom taken at face value. Jill’s dress is black with white trim. She’s signaling that the grief is fake and they did their job. They consider themselves the “white hats,” i.e., in the right. Joe Biden’s grief is that he had to follow through with the plans. Jill’s not president, so she considers her hands are clean. Joe’s the patsy here. She knows he’s dead/dying and feathering her nest.
