A Bad Solar Storm Could Cause an ‘Internet Apocalypse’
The undersea cables that connect much of the world would be hit especially hard by a coronal mass ejection.

The masses will go psycho without Farcebook, Tweater, and InstaSpam.
The potential of a devastating CME is all to real. I truly hope the proverbial ‘they’ are preparing. I try to be prepared as much as reasonably possible, but pretty much don’t think about it. Fear is a female dog.
Good link BTW - thanks
I did just have to reboot my cable modem in my house.
The power also dipped for a few seconds.
It was probably just a squirrel committing suicide again.
Coronal Mass Ejections/ Enormous Explosions on the Sun:

Nasa - X-3 flare in 2006 - ions circled the Earth and Moon for a full day.
If an X-3 is three times more powerful than an X-1, and an X-8 would be 8x more powerful, will we get more than one day of ion circling?
Like a Hurricane (or tornado?):
“..a giant tube of magnetic flux emerging from beneath the sun’s surface. As it spins, lines of magnetic force become twisted and stretched, while N and S polarities are shoved together in close proximity. “This causes a build-up of tension and energy in the magnetic field.
