These kids have no idea what a Katy Bar is. Dead bolts have pretty much replaced the Katy. I'm here to help:

I’m no kid, and I had. no idea - I always thought that there was someone named Katey who was told to “bar the door” at some point in time. LOL

I think that on a windowless door, a Katy Bar might be superior to a deadbolt. Provided the brackets are extremely well-anchored.
