I own a 2020 Chevy Bolt. By the way, it is not a Volt - that was a hybrid that they don’t make anymore.
I love my Bolt. I have gone on several long (over 1000 mile) trips with it and enjoyed the fast charging stations located strategically - usually at Walmart stores all over the nation. I get around 300 miles per charge. The battery degradation after 100,000 miles is around 6% on the 2017 model (better than Tesla). I love the guiet ride and the low maintenance and the fun of driving past the gas stations.
No, I don’t think that I am saving the planet and yes, a long trip takes a little longer.
So, I guess I will take it out of my garage and look forward to a new battery.
I know we complain about electric cars here. But this is America... if you want one, buy one. They have their advantages. Don’t think I’d take one on long trips, but as a daily urban-suburban commuter? Probably a good choice.
