Wishing that to be true doesn’t make it true. The fact is that the Delta variant mutated into existence in India well before their vaccination efforts took off.

The reason the Pfizer vaccine is less effective against the Delta variant is that the antibodies the Pfizer vaccine causes your immune system to make “attack” part(s) of the virus’ protein that have mutated in a way that resist those Pfizer antibodies.

If the Delta variant had been in widespread circulation at the time of Pfizer’s Phase 3 trials, it likely would not have achieved the 50% efficacy that was supposedly needed for authorization,
