Mostly true and it did NOT look like he was beating it.
I always let my buds make a few laps on any of my bikes, I knew if they broke they would help make the repair, and I rode their bikes.
It was not unusual in my experience for another competitor to offer you a few laps on their bike.
Yes, they were usually dealers or reps, but not always.
That said, this feels more like some jamoke taking a sip of your very nice drink without your permission.
