We can absolutely and politely disagree on this.
Educated, civilized Afghans, not so much....what Afghan’s are these? The interpreters?
How are you measuring their education and civilized behavior?....Because they can speak English? Many of the interpreters speak broken English. Enough to pass for some 11Bravo in the field, trying to find the bad guys. But, not the same one that is working at the UN or Afghanistan Embassy in DC. As for civilized, how is that being measured? Because they told the person at DOD or DOS interviewing them that they don’t participate in Bacha Bazi and never have. Because they told the DOD/DOS that they never planted a roadside bomb or participated in any aggression toward the US or coalition forces. Because they told the person at DOD/DOS that they don’t wipe their a$$ with their hand.
The short time I was there, the interpreter I dealt with was from DC. His parents got out of Afghanistan in the 80s and he was an American citizen. Time went by, he went home and due to the need for more and the turnover rate, the proficiency standard was lowered and lowered.
It’s not like these interpreters were plucked out of Oxford or Harvard. They have internet over there. Many of them taught themselves how to speak english from getting on Youtube and other internet sites. They are to be commended.
But.................
Whether it’s incompetence, indifference, malice, any combination thereof, or anything else you can think of, this isn’t something that happened at the spur of the moment. Folks knew this or should have known.

Over 20 years to get their country right........Close to $1,000,000,000,000 spent trying to get that country right.....Close to $1,000,000,000 trying to get their military and police right....Military equipment that we, the US Taxpayer, gave them now in the hands of the people they were supposed to use it against.....and the interpreters were paid very, very, very well.

You say that the interpreters are educated and civilized. Ok. Based on what civilization. Other than the ability to speak English and translate Pashtu or Dari to Sgt Snuffy, of the 82nd Airborne, what other job skills do they have? What are they going to do when they get here? Of course, with the influx of 1000s tossed into neighborhoods all over America, any school in the area is going to need folks that can teach. How many American teachers do you know that are fluent in Pashtu and Dari. And I’m talking about the ‘school book version’ not the version spoken in some mountain dialect from the hinterlands of Afghanistan.
Can you guarantee that the interpreter isn’t going to revert back to being the way everyone around him has been for centuries? No.
Can you guarantee that the citizens of this country will not become the victims of these people when they’re resettled here? No.
What happens when they’re sitting around all day, come to the realization that they really don’t like America and they start talking to some guy from the local mosque, who will surely be allowed in to talk to them? And that guy sees a group that can be easily manipulated. What happens then? Will he become radicalized and are you willing to take that chance.
Or just, plain old,they have no jobs, they really can’t speak the language as good as folks thought they could and so, the taxpayer is spending billions and billions of their money, providing Section 8, food stamps, utility assistance, and every thing else that goes with it?
Did you or I agree to have our property taxes go up even more, for all of that? A billion dollars goes much, much further somewhere in Southwest Asia then it does down the street from you or me.
And lets not forget, about all the US citizens that will be born in the next 12 months or so. Do you think they don’t know or are not being told about getting pregnant and popping out a US citizen. Lets just say that 1000 end up in Ft McCoy...even split....1/3 men, 1/3 women, 1/3 kids. That’s 333 kids that have to be taken care of and end up in a school of some sort. That’s 333 men that are illiterate, have no job skills or a combination thereof. 333 or 334 women, who will get pregnant and have a citizen within the next 12 months, that you and I will pay the hospital bill for, you and I will pay her Medicare, and you and I will pay for her house, food stamps and everything else.
It’ll take at least a generation for them to have some semblance of the opportunity they’ve been given. And with the way schools are now, some white, liberal is going to do a great job, teaching them to hate America, without any help from the madrassa down the road.
And then....when the dust settles and the Taliban decides to be compassionate, they allow for family reunification. How much more money to we need to spend?
Annnnndddd....lets not forget about all the terrorists, ISIS, Al Queda that will invariably be able to take advantage of this debacle and work their way into this process and our country, since no one has id they can pretend to be anyone they want.
AND MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANYTHING ESLE....

The debt to the Afghani people, IMHO, has been paid....2346 times. And in some of those cases, the families were not even able to see their loved one, because there was nothing left.
Because the entire democrat party is a terrorist organization and is sympathetic of the taliban maybe?
