I had COVID in March 2021. I had burning in my nose for several days but not much congestion and very little coughing. After about a week, my sense of smell nearly vanished overnight - like flipping a switch. For a couple of days I could only faintly make out the smell of beeswax and very strong rose fragrance. After about 2 days it started to return and I thought all was OK.

A few weeks ago my husband and I were in a shop sniffing various hand-made soaps and we realized that both of us had some odd olfactory changes but they didn't affect the same fragrances. I've always loved lavender but I don't smell it as well as before. Likewise lemon. I've also noticed that sour cream doesn't taste as intense as it used to. I keep challenging my sense of smell to help re-establish any neural links that I can. The only good thing to report is that skunks don't smell as bad either. They smell odd and sulfurous but not horrendous. They like to live under the shed at our cottage and this summer I don't detect them at all. I doubt they moved out!

This means that if the cat got Covid, she finally might hook up with Pepe le Pew after all!!
