She owns the place she can enter her place any time she wants- along with a dozen or so big burly friends.

La familia can provide some discreet assistance

The movement is based on a conspiracy theory that the US government, as established by the founding fathers, was secretly replaced.

"Sovereign citizens believe they should choose which laws they follow"

Fist they were, "democrats" then they changed to, "progressives" I guess, now they are sovereign citizens?

Slightly edited version...

20 in most states. I have seen it as low as 15, but never lower than that.

I have a question which nobody seems to be asking. I wonder why. If thousands upon thousands of illegals are coming across the border.....where are they living? They need housing. Would this not be causing an extreme housing shortage? Is this shortage one reason house prices are skyrocketing?

That’s right. If the government isn’t going to provide a republican form of government, then US laws don’t apply. The home owner has the right to deem what necessary force is necessary to protect their property.

A major reason our country is in the trouble it is in today.

So many people do not understand the problem. Lack of logic? Shallow minds? Trolls? But whatever, that post is a splendid example.

The problem here is not the value of the house. It matters not whether the house is worth $50,000, $5,000,000 or the 1.5 million mentioned.

I repeat, that is not the problem. The problem is that it belongs to a widow who put it up for sale because of the death of her husband. The home probably represents a large percent of her net worth. She probably is counting on its conversion to cash as a factor in her living standard for the rest of her life.

And someone is stealing it from her any all you have to say is “Not worth it until someone pays that for it”.

That is your contribution to the problem? We have to determine what it is worth before we consider it a problem?

It matters not whether it is worth $50,000, $5,000,000 or the 1.5 million she is asking. The problem is that it is her property and thieves are trying to take it from her.

I’m waiting for some disgruntled homeowner who’s been stuck with squatters to lose it completely and burn their own house down. If it’s not happened already, it’s gonna!

The problem with that is that “La Familia” often ends up with the house.

In order to obtain title by adverse possession, they would have to live there 20 years under claim of right without the actual owner disputing their right to live there. Quite unlikely.

Our lawyer didn't go into any real detail regarding the mechanics involved...he eventually gave us the OK to buy.

I had a hunch that this particular case would qualify for an adverse possession petition...but I didn't know that 20 years was the requirement.
