Honestly, I think they have no idea what they are doing. They are in way over their heads. Are making it up as they go along. And are not letting this crisis go to waste.

“Because we say so” is the final refuge of the otherwise impotent.
They can destroy the country. They can unite disparate people against them and their heavy-handed incompetence. But they do not have the manpower or the legal status to demand everyone be inoculated if everyone just quits their job, doesn’t attempt to travel, ignores the circuses of sports and concerts, withdraws their kids from school, and shrugs as the supply lines break.
The military, decimated by *breakthroughs*, adverse side effects, retirements, lack of recruits and those who can and do just quit, cannot enforce their hysterical mandates, cover for the lack of truck drivers and various retail personnel and also respond to the growing kinetic threats from abroad. The new, woke military, especially, will not do as they are told without heavy bribes and a huge transfer of power that will still not substitute for competence, even if the administrators were to bestow that power upon them.
